For his solo exhibition, La luce, la traccia, la forma, Fondazione Modena Arti Visive has invited artist Mario Cresci to create a dialogue with the exhibition L’impronta del reale. W. H. Fox Talbot alle origini della fotografia, which the Gallerie Estensi, in collaboration with FMAV, are contemporaneously dedicating to the inventor of photography on paper and image reproduction procedures. Mario Cresci is inspired by the origins of photography as a trace (traccia) created by light (luce) and has put together an exhibition of a series of works that highlight his interest in engraving and in “marks” which, in the broadest sense, have been a constant topic of his artistic research right from the outset.
Since the 1970s, Mario Cresci has authored eclectic works featuring a free range of research spanning drawing, photography, videos, installations and site-specific pieces. His work has always been an ongoing investigation into the nature of visual language using the photographic means as the opposite pretext to the concept of the truth of reality. The exhibition has been created in partnership with Gallerie Estensi.
