On 15 September 2023, the exhibition Logos. Le immagini parlano, curated by Chiara Dall’Olio, put together on occasion of the 2023 festivalfilosofia (until 17 September), whose theme this year is the word and goal is to discuss the centrality of speech, language and speaking out in an era – dominated by communication – which paradoxically seems nevertheless to weaken it.
The exhibition, which will take place in Palazzo Santa Margherita, sets out to enable the public to perceive how verbal and visual language differ and can complement each other. To do so, FMAV has chosen to display the works from the photograph and drawing collections of its founding members, Fondazione di Modena and the municipality of Modena, which best demonstrate this relationship.
For a new use of the collections and a more engaging and immersive experience of the artistic heritage managed by FMAV, audio descriptions will accompany the visitors throughout the exhibition and, outside the venue, a series of podcasts which can be followed by people with different perceptive and sensorial abilities will look into the authors’ artistic research. The audio descriptions have been created especially for the visually impaired, thanks to a partnership with the Museo Statale Tattile Omero in Ancona and the Modena branch of the Unione Italiana Ciechi e Ipovedenti (Italian Union for the Blind and Visually Impaired) but they will be universally available for the whole public to discover the works through a different language. The same works will be investigated in the podcasts made in partnership with Radio Papesse which will remain on the FMAV website www.fmav.org and on the main listening platforms.
