FMAV - Palazzo Santa Margherita

FMAV - Palazzo Santa Margherita

Situated in one of the most important historical streets in downtown Modena, Palazzo Santa Margherita, whose name comes from the church once present in this area, not only hosts the Fondazione Modena Arti Visive – which in October 2017 absorbed the Galleria Civica and Museo della Figurina that were housed here – but also other cultural services such as the Delfini library and Orazio Vecchi music institute.

Access to the Fondazione Modena Arti Visive premises is on the first floor where you find the Main Hall. Carrying on to the left, you come to the stairs that lead to the Upper Rooms on the second floor. Also located on the same floor are part of the photography collections and the drawing and graphics collection, now managed by Fondazione Modena Arti Visive, which scholars and photography enthusiasts can view by appointment.

Going in the opposition direction from the Main Hall, past the ticket office and bookshop, you get to the stairs that lead to the Museo della Figurina with its collection that has grown up from the donation by Giuseppe Panini. A large space, it has display cases that are designed like albums to leaf through as well as a 12-metre display cabinet that hosts temporary exhibitions and events.

Palazzo Santa Margherita also has two workshop areas set aside for children’s and teenagers’ activities.
